David Mark, Director, McKinsey & Company
David Mark David Mark is a Director with McKinsey & Company and leads McKinsey's West Coast Business Technology Office (BTO) located in Palo Alto. The BTO focuses on the intersection of business strategy and technology. David advises McKinsey's clients on strategy and technology issues across a broad range of sectors, including retail banking, asset management, insurance, high-tech, and healthcare. Example experiences include:

  • Developing the technology and operations strategy for a regional retail bank with more than $25 billion in assets to improve the bank’s core operations and implement both retail and commercial strategies.
  • Developing an approach for transforming the operating performance of a multi-line bank with assets in excess of $100 billion.  The effort involved developing strategies for applying lean techniques, offshoring, and automation to core processes.
  • Transforming the operating performance of an asset management firm with AUM in excess of $100 billion. The effort involved designing and implementing technology based strategies to improve efficiency, customer and channel interactions, and operating
  • Defining a web/consumer strategy for a leading retail insurer in the automotive segment. The effort involved redesigning the overall approach to consumers by leveraging core and new technologies.

David received his Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical engineering and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School.

John PetroneJohn Petrone, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
As CTO of Autobytel Inc., John Petrone oversees a world-class technology infrastructure that includes over 100 IT professionals, multiple product development teams, and four data centers nationwide. In this capacity, he is responsible for the ongoing development of Autobytel’s diverse technology offerings, including its award-winning dealership CRM solutions, dynamic, rich online advertising/marketing platforms for OEMs, proprietary search engine optimization software, and the company’s intensive customer ‘scrubbing’ system. Under Petrone’s leadership, Autobytel was recently recognized by California Innovation Corridor Partners as “Innovation All-Star.”

In 2006, IDG’s Computerworld Magazine named Petrone one of the nation’s Premier 100 IT Leaders. His team at Autobytel has also been honored with an AeA High-Tech Award for product innovation and the 2005 Stevie Award for Best Product Development Team.

Petrone brings to Autobytel 20 years of experience in full life cycle systems development, including project management and systems architecture design. Since the mid-90’s, he has been the senior technology executive for a range of e-commerce and IT companies, having served as CTO of Audiobase, an audio streaming solutions provider, and Alibris, an online seller of rare books, for which he developed a successful technology turnaround plan.

Earlier, Petrone served as CIO of Della & James, Inc., an online gift registry funded by Kleiner Perkins and Amazon, where he was responsible for all software development, systems integration and technical operations. He was also executive vice president and CTO of Preview Travel, Inc., spearheading all technology activities for the online travel company, which, during Petrone’s tenure, grew to a run rate of $400 million/year with 10 million registered users and enjoyed a successful IPO in 1997, before merging with Travelocity.com. Prior to Preview, he held senior tech positions with Oracle, Lotus Consulting, Price Waterhouse and Andersen Consulting.

Petrone attended the University of Maryland, where he received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. He has presented at a number of prestigious technology conferences, including the Business Week Technology Conference (New York), the Travel Technologies conference (San Francisco), and Internet World (Chicago).

Diogo RauDiogo Rau, Senior Consultant, McKinsey & Company
Diogo Rau is a senior consultant with McKinsey’s Business Technology Office in San Francisco and a core member of the Firm’s IT organization and governance practice. Since joining McKinsey in 2003, he has served technology, media, and financial services firms on a range of strategy, organization, and technology issues. Recent examples include:

  • For a top five software producer, redesigned the IT organization, defined an IT strategy, reduced IT consultant spending, and rationalized its application portfolio, and designed a new model for IT to support software developers
  • For a top five toy manufacturer, define the IT and application strategy, reshaped the organization, rationalized the application portfolio, virtualized the servers, and reduced IT consultants
  • For a top five casino, identified opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the IT organization
  • For a top ten insurer and diversified financial services provider, defined the IT strategy, organization, and priority initiatives

Prior to McKinsey, Diogo spent four years in consulting and two years in software engineering, including founding employee rewards and recognition provider GiftGateway (now BeyondWork. Diogo holds an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University, in addition to a B.S. in Computer Science, also from Stanford.

Larry Kading, IT Portfolio Management Specialist, Compuware
Larry Kading, Compuware IT Portfolio Management Specialist, has over 12 years of experience working in the information technology industry. Larry has worked with hundreds of organizations across North America, Latin America, APAC and the EMEA to select and implement IT portfolio management solutions. Prior to joining Compuware, he served as Director of Client Information Systems at Precision Response Corporation. Larry graduated from George Fox University with extended business management studies from UCSD.

Ron Milton, Executive Vice President, Computerworld
Ron Milton Ron manages the events business and strategic business programs for IT executive titles in storage networking, mobile and wireless, data center and business intelligence market sectors. Milton leads the team responsible for creating content, sponsor sales, operations, marketing and audience development for all of Computerworld's events, such as brands like Premier 100 IT Leaders, Storage Networking World, Mobile & Wireless World, Business Intelligence Perspectives and IT Executive Summit Series. He has 20+ years of experience in information technology, serving in both vendor and information services management positions. Before his current role at IDG, Ron was Senior Vice President of CXO Media and General Manager of CIO Magazine's Executive Program Divisions.

Prior to joining Computerworld in 1999, he was President and CEO of IDG's Internet Commerce (ICE) business unit, which he founded in 1996 as a start-up business, and was a pioneer in using e-commerce systems and web marketing. He was a 1996 recipient of the coveted IDG Chairman's Award for the most successful start-up business globally. Before joining IDG, Milton spent five years as Vice President/Partner of GLA computer Systems, a software developer and channel integrator with market share leadership in wholesale travel solutions. Prior to GLA, he also held a variety of management positions in channel management, field sales and marketing at Honeywell Information Systems and Bull HN. He holds degrees from Concordia University and Sir George Williams University.
