Michael Hugos, Computerworld Columnist, Former CIO and Author of Essentials of Supply Chain Management and Building the Real Time Enterprise: An Executive Briefing

Michael Hugos is CIO at Large and a coach in business and IT agility with the Center for Systems Innovation. He recently spent six years as the CIO of a multi-billion dollar distribution organization where he built the suite of supply chain and e-business systems that transformed the company’s business model and now drives its growth. Prior to this he was a Practice Director at a publicly traded global IT services firm.
In 2003 and 2005 he was awarded the CIO 100 Award for bold and resourceful use of information technology and in 2006 he was awarded the Computerworld Premier 100 award for career achievement. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Mr. Hugos is an author whose books include The Greatest Innovation Since the Assembly Line and CIO Best Practices: Enabling Strategic Value with Information Technology. He writes a column for Computerworld, a blog for CIO magazine, and speaks at business and IT industry conferences.
André V. Mendes, Chief Information Officer, Special Olympics International

As the Chief Information Officer for Special Olympics’ international headquarters, Mendes is responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the global organization’s information technology infrastructure. He will oversee the advancement and improvement of the organization’s integral IT system, which includes the global and regional Web sites, all applications and the Special Olympics Knowledge Management System which is accessible to employees around the world in Africa, Asia Pacific, East Asia, Europe/Eurasia, Latin America, Middle East/North Africa and North America. Additionally, he will provide guidance on the technologies developed for Special Olympics World Games, such as the Games Management System.
Previously, André Mendes was responsible for developing and implementing technology strategy in both the Broadcasting Engineering and Information Technology divisions of the Public Broadcasting Service. He also oversaw the daily operations of PBS’s entire technology infrastructure. Mr. Mendes had also previously served the organization from 1998 to 2001, and rose to the position of Chief Information Technology Officer during that time.
In May 2001, Mr. Mendes was named by Computerworld magazine as one of the “Premier 100 IT Leaders” in the U.S.
More recently, Mr. Mendes has been named the “2006 IT Executive of the Year” for the Mid-Atlantic region, he was bestowed a “2006 Mid-Market Leadership Award” by CIO Decisions magazine and a “2005 Technology Leadership Award” by Broadcasting & Cable Magazine.
He is a co-author of the critically acclaimed “CTO Leadership Strategies” from Aspatore Books.
Born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal, Mr. Mendes speaks five languages fluently and currently resides in Potomac, MD with his wife and son.
Julia King, Executive Editor of Events, National Correspondent, Computerworld
 Julia King is Executive Editor, Events and National Correspondent at Computerworld. Ms. King is an award-winning business and technology journalist whose coverage has spanned a wide range of beats, from technology management and labor issues to electronic commerce, IT return on investment issues and offshore outsourcing. Ms. King was the founding executive editor of the award-winning Computerworld ROI magazine and spearheaded Computerworld's coverage of information economics. Prior to joining Computerworld in 1994, Ms. King worked for nearly a decade as a reporter and writer for national business and technology magazines. She also worked for five years as a daily newspaper reporter and later, as a features writer and editor. Her IT reporting has earned her several awards form the American Society of Business Press Editors and she is a frequent presenter and panel moderator at industry conferences. She is editor of a book titled Executives' Guide To The Wireless Workforce, which was published by John Wiley & Sons in July, 2003.
Ms. King holds a Master's Degree in International Relations and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, both from University of Pittsburgh. She is based in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
Paul Turner, NetApp Senior Director, Storage Management Technology, Network Appliance
Paul Turner leads the Storage Management and Partner Integration teams at Network Appliance. His team is leading NetApps efforts on Storage Grid Management and management and integration with Server Virtualization. He has 17 years of development and product management leadership. Prior to Network Appliance, Paul was at Oracle for 15 years in a variety of roles including development of Oracle Clustering Technology, leading Oracle's Technology Partnering Division and also leading their Service Engineering Team.
Paul hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and is based on the California Bay Area.
